if hes got proof of what he has paid he could take it further but if the guy he paid it 4 is any kind of mate he should at least pay him back

he could take him to court stating it was an informal loan since it shouldn't be too hard to prove he was the person who made the payment (assuming he didn't just pay the owner cash to hand over to the loan company)
