You cant insure the car if someone else owns it and has it insured themselves. I know this answer coz I phoned up my car insurance broker and asked the same question last week because thats what I wanted to do!

i think most people will just put there name on the person who owns the car insurance , the only thing is it might increase the price

insuring a car twice can be looked upon as fraud you really don't want to go there just be a named driver or if you want to get your insurance started go to the scrap yard and insure an old wreck just to get your no claims on the go hope this helps

broomie
just be a named driver on your brothers insurance, my Dad's on mine as a named driver.

"If you have full comp insurance on your car and he has any insurance policy on his car then you will be covered anyway.

Full comp insurance includes driving other cars with the owners permission."

The above is not always true, you need to check that the comprehensive policy has a 'driving other cars extension', it will say on the certificate of motor insurance. It will also only give third party cover on the other persons car so no cover for own damage if you have an accident.

Hi there, No you cant take our insurance on someone elses car. You have to be the registered keeper, it will be easier to add yourself to his policy as an addition driver.

If you have full comp insurance on your car and he has any insurance policy on his car then you will be covered anyway.

Full comp insurance includes driving other cars with the owners permission.

Although you will be legal when driving it, It is illegal for youe brother to keep the car without insurance, if in fact he has not got insurance the police will take the car but you will still have had insurance to drive it.
