Iuhgiug J | Car insurance under my mother's policy? |
if I get insured under my mothers policy will it cost less, I am only 18 and I have just bought a new car which is too expensive to insure under my own policy. If I crash will she lose her no claims? |

Well, if you crash, and the car is titled to you, and the insurance is in her name, then her policy won't pay out - she has no insurable interest in the car!!
The name on the title, registration, and insurance policy all have to match. |

That depends on the company. Usually you will pay less under your Mom's policy, as her good record can qualify you for a much better rate than you could get on your own. She could lose her no-claims status if you have an accident, but some companies will allow the parent to retain the discount if the child then gets insured elsewhere and signs an exclusion. These are really questions her insurance agent an answer best.
Despite what a previous answerer said, there's little chance your Mom could lose her house because you get into an accident, unless she is also an owner of the car. And if she is she's better off if you have good insurance that will protect her, too. |

it will cost you a lil less but dont do it if someone is to sue you can loose your house since its under you moms insurance and that would be awful also you want you own isurance you points go down each year being on your moms you wont have points just hers your points go down each year your bill goes down so it will healp you in the long run |

Wendy has the best answer. It will be less if your under your mom's policy because you get more discounts that way.
Any tickets or accidents will count on your driving record with your license number and not hers. |

It will be cheaper than if it was your own policy, yes, but you will still pay a considerably higher premium than her. Her NCB will not be affected if you are the driver who claims after a crash. |

It won't cost less if you're a GUY under 25. It will make your MOTHER'S policy go up considerably (maybe not as much as if you insured on your own, but it won't be cheap).
If you crash, her insurance will be responsible for covering any damages YOU cause (if it's your fault). And her premiums will go up even more.
Suck it up and pay for it yourself. You shouldn't have gotten a sports car. |
