Concerning car insurance, why would your credit score effect your premium?
why on earth would your credit score have an effect on how much a person pays for car insurance? i was told by independant that my rate would be lower if i had had a more "favorable" credit history. theres not even anything wrong with my credit. what the hell is that all about ,can someone explain this?

The worse your credit the higher chance that a person will get into an accident & file a claim. It is that simple. Some companies don't use credit still, though. You may want to try a site that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I'm paying less than after I did.

You'll want to research this some more....

Have a nice day.

the first two answers are correct. there have been studies done that show people with higher credit scores are less of a risk. what CAN you do in todays world that isn't benefited by a higher credit score?

Insurance analyst and credit analyst have found a correlation between credit performance and volume/amount of claims filed. Thus, insurance companies use this as a basis to adjust rates to offset their costs.

these answers are correct. and as I have stated before there is no one to lobby for the "little guy" who has a low credit score while insurance companies are rich and have immense lobbying capabilities.
Its just wrong.

George B
It has to do with the risk the insurance company assumes when it insures you.

Their experience has shown them that in general people with lower credit scores are a higher risk for them (more likely to have insurance claims), than are people with higher credit scores.

momtosix
Most people with low credit scores filed claims when something happened...People with higher credit scores paid for the stuff out of pocket so as not to have their insurance go up..There might be agents that will do a manual look at your history and base it off of that..Try looking around..
