There are three possibilites.
If you have family / friends - they can only need to stay 2 nights at your house to ensure that the house is occupied within 60 days.
Or
You can get an organisation in to house-sit (this is useful when you have other pets you want feeding)
Or
Rent your house (and earn some money) for that period...though might need more insurance cover....

Check your policy. You should have coverage for your contents no matter where they are, up to a certain amount. It's according to how much the contents are worth that you will be taking. If they
are not worth any more than your insurance now covers, you do
not need additional coverage. |

I had something similar and used Home Cover (http://www.home-cover.com/) and got a good quote, but I don't know if they can cover your specific circumstances - might be worth a try. The reason I chose them and one key thing to look at in your case is the 'cancellation clause'. You can cancel at any time, so you could buy it for a year, cancel after 5 months and have it refunded.
However, certain things may not be covered if your house is unoccupied for more than 30/60 days and you would probably need to notify the insurer. Contact them anyway and get as much information as you can.

What if you stick with your existing insurance for now & for the fi?rst 60 days that you are away & cancel it from the day you will go away & start a new cover from that day too?It might work out a bit more expensive but at least you will have cover & peace of mind |

Are you planning on maintaining a residence here while you are away (either a home/apartment/condo/etc.)? If you are, your Homeowner's/Condo/Tenant's policy already covers your contents anywhere in the world. There will be some conditions you will have to meet in order to keep the policy in force (don't remove all of your contents from your dwelling here or else it may be considered vacant which is a big no-no!) while you are away, so speak with your broker/agent. |

I would recommend you speak to a Lloyds (of London - not TSB!!) Insurance Broker, who can often provide quotes for non-standard types of cover.
