Melanie K | Cost of Health Insurance? |
Hi,
Okay, so I need some help. I am moving to California to go to school for the next school year. My parents will not be paying for anything. I was wondering if someone could please ballpark around how much health insurance would be every month for me. I'm going to be a full time college student, with (hopefully) a close to full time job. I'll be nineteen. I don't have any serious health problems. I'm pretty much normal. haha.
Also, if dental insurance won't be included in my health insurance, how much will that cost?
Thank you. |

Health insurance can be very tricky. Since I live in North Dakota I'm not sure about California regulations, so I recommend you call a local health insurance agent. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Health-Insurance.html They should be able to help you. |

I would strongly encourage you to visit this great site: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago when I was in college. Looking for something affordable, with good coverage. They have saved me thousands on all services. From doctor visits, Dental, Rx...etc. They even had my very affordable benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. good luck and hope this helps |

If you're going to a University, then you'll probably be able to get student health insurance, which is really not that expensive. At my first college, it was something like $45 per month. At my second, it was around $60.
If your school doesn't provide health insurance, then an individual policy with a not-huge deductible will run you around $200 per month. If you increase your deductible (which means that, if something actually happens where you need care, you'll have to pay a larger sum out of pocket before your insurance kicks in to cover the rest), you can get an individual policy for around $120 per month.
If you want to add dental, you're looking at something like $50 per month, depending on what kind of coverage you get. With dental insurance, it's much more specific about what's covered in a given year, and each policy costs something different.
Good luck! :0) |

If you're perfectly healthy, with nothing wrong, and a healthy weight, a low/no deductible plan is going to cost you around $250 a month.
Or you can sign on to your college plan.
Dental insurance, I haven't seen any private plans that cover more than they cost. And it's NOT included with health insurance. |

If you are in college, you may want to check out health insurance programs that are written through your school. United Healthcare has a plan available at many US schools. These student injury and illness plans provide wide ranging coverage and are designed to be affordable for college students. To check if your school is participating, go to www.UHCSR.com and enter your school name in the search box. You might also be interested in joining the American College Student Association (ACSA), a national organization for college students. They have lots of member benefits, including student health insurance. Their membership fee is affordable. |
