I paid my annual premium for property insurance in December of 09. In February I got a phone messagel from the inspector saying the company was going to cancel my policy due to the fact that they could not get a "good inspection" on it. I was out of town and when I got back I returned his call and described the contents in the locked part of the building and asked if he wanted to see it. He said no. I never got my premium back so assumed they still covered me. In October I had a fire. Turned it in and they denied the claim. Last week, 6 months after the fire and 14 months after they "said" they were going to cancel, I get my premium check in the mail. Took it straight to a lawyer. I do not remember getting a cancellation notice but my bank got a copy and they too failed me, they didn't get insurance on the loan as they usually do. So here I sat for almost a year thinking I had insurance on a publicly used building. Does anyone know what to expect here? We are going to court over it.
