Describe what is wrong with the following statement made by an uninformed (hypothetical) politician, “For-profit nursing homes are bad because the owners charge whatever price they want.†|

What's wrong with that statement is in our society the for-profit homes cannot charge whatever they want. They can charge whatever the market is willing to pay, though. They will generally have nicer places and better amenities than a not-for-profit home to entice the prospective residents to agree to pay more.
Hope you get an A |

Politicians look look themselves in the mirror.before ridiculing our free capitalist society.
Yes for Profit is "for profit". AND you get what you pay for.!!
I have been at many Non-profit nursing homes and some treat
patients like cattle. |

Politicians are stupid, and don't know how the real world works. They're horrid managers, and most of them have never held a real job. Anyone who takes economic advice from someone who sticks his fingers out to see which way the wind is blowing, DESERVES what they get. |

For-profit can oftentimes be more efficient because it is run like a business. The statement incorrectly implies that non-profit nursing homes do not bring in huge amounts of cash every month. Non-profit just means that they cannot retain earnings; it does not mean they don't make money. |

In a free capitalist country a business can charge whatever it wants. The politician must be a liberal. |

Politicians like that one are only concerned about spending as little as possible on medicare and long-term disability expenses. They could care less about the people. They are only concerned with saving money. They need that money for their limo rides, petty cash and special interest projects like the war. Our politicians in America are more concerned with supporting the rest of the world than taking care of the citizens. Look how they treated the soldiers that have been disabled from the war. Our hometown heroes are being treated worse than the enemy. We need some caps put on a lot of prices like gas. We are quickly becoming a two-class society: the super rich and the poor. |
