Some companies have a scheduled property endorsement they can add and some offer collectibles coverage, but generally it is a separate policy you need.

Whenever you have anything individually valuable (i.e. coin collection, huge TV etc) you want to make sure to talk to your agent about them to make sure they are covered correctly and completely. As agents, we are not mind readers; never assume that we will know every thing that is in your house, bring it up and we can make sure you are covered.

Good luck to you!

Usually anything out of the ordinary like expensive collectibles or fine jewelry is considered additional coverage. Check your policy and/or call your insurance company.

Yep, I knew that even before I worked in the insurance industry. I always read my policy.

Yes. The standard homeowners policy has "limitations of coverage", particularly by theft, for things like coin collections, stamp collections, gun collections, jewelry, cash money, gold boullion, sterling silver, etc.

If you have an AGENT, then they should be explaining that when you purchase your policy. If you do NOT have an agent, then you're acting as your OWN agent, and it's YOUR responsibility to read your ENTIRE policy, so you don't find out after the loss.

yes thats true...they have limits on a lot of things such as jewlery, guns, art, coins, cash, etc...
the good news is that you CAN insure them to value by scheduling them on your policy. yes it does increase your premium to do this, but if the collection is that valuable, then you need to insure it.

Yes. And they won't insure the gun I'm going to use to protect my coins either!

Yes but most insurance companies, if they are any good, will give you the name of some companies that can give you insurance just for your coins. Hubby has a coin collection from other countries from serving in the military and our insurance gave us info on how to get the coins themselves insured.
