Do I have to pay my insurance ticket if I drove an uninsured car while I owned another insured car?
Here is what happened: my mother drove my uninsured car and got a speeding ticket plus an insurance ticket.

Since she owns a car with current insurance (its just this one time that she happened to drive my car) will I have to purchase insurance in order for judge to reduce her ticket? Or will the ticket get dismissed because she already had insurance (just on her car)?

Yes, you'll have to pay the ticket. The ticket was for driving YOUR car uninsured. It doesn't matter if she had insurance on a different vehicle or not. She didn't get a ticket in her car. She got it in your car, which was uninsured.

Judges will frequently dismiss or reduce the ticket if you show up in court with proof of insurance. It's not a guarantee. Showing him proof of insurance on her vehicle isn't going to do any good though. She would have to show proof of insurance on the vehicle she was driving at the time of the ticket, that means your car.

Judges also will pull your license plate in some jurisdictions if you don't show up with proof of insurance. That means no one will be allowed to drive the vehicle until it's insured. I don't know if you live in one of the jurisdictions that does that or not.

Make it easy on yourself. Get your car insured. Go to court with proof of insurance and plead for mercy.

i think all vehicles need to be insured if they are moving, separate of the individual behind the wheel

The law states clearly that the insurance has to be maintained on the VEHICLE, NOT THE DRIVER. No matter if your mother has insurance on her car or not, your car would have had to have insurance on it at the time to avoid a insurance ticket. Usually you can plead out to the judge, if he's reasonable, and he'll reduce it. Especially if you can prove you at least have insurance on it now. Hope it helps!

purchasing insurance now won't help, the ticket was already issued, and what does her car being insured have to do with the car she was driving, was the car she was driving insured, then the ticket is legitimate right, there's ur answer

Pay the ticket.

I don't think it's going to matter - she was in a car, that was uninsured. Her insurance is not necessarily going to carry over onto your car - if she's a household member, it specifically won't.

I think she's stuck paying this ticket, no matter what.

the insurance is on the car, not the driver so it won't be dismissed, - I never heard of a judge reducing a ticket if you buy insurance after the fact, but good luck with that!

You cannot drive a car without insurance.

Your mother is lucky she just got two tickets. In other States she would be arrested.

You need to buy insurance for your car right now and then pay both tickets.

If you cannot pay the fine then don't commit the crime.
