Do I have to pay the copay if they put me with the wrong doctor?
There's this government contracted public pdoc services center that put me with a pdoc who wasn't in my insurance plan - twice - and charged me the full amounts plus co-pay. They took off the charges for the insurance part but are harrassing me about paying them the co-pay. I paid one co-pay on my first visit but was told to hold off on the second time because they hadn't processed my insurance yet. Do I owe them the copay even when they put me with a pdoc who wasn't in my plan (and they knew my plan)? Additional Details This is a state funded public service group of pdoc and social workers. I went through the intake and I believe I signed that they knew my correct insurance even. It was up to them - they thought he was in the BCBS system but he wasn't YET approved (he was pending)...
unfortunately, yes they can. It is up to the individual to make sure you are seeing a doctor in your plan.

You saw the doctor so you have no choice but to pay. If you choose not to your bill will likely be sent to collections and you'll have to pay interest and fines (depending on how far along this goes) and it can negatively affect your credit so it's not worth arguing over. Next time make sure you're seeing the right doctor.

It is up to you to make the appt with the proper dr. If you are TriCare and not going on base. You need to find a Dr that will accept TriCare and then tell TriCare you are seeing a specific Dr.
If TriCare is sending you to a specific Dr and the Dr isn't taking them - you need to tell TriCare the Dr is no longer taking them.
Also when you get the authorization to go out of plan (local med facility) you can pic who you want to see if it isn't who is listed on the letter there is an 800 number to call and say "I want to see so-&-so" and if they take TriCare - you are golden.
