Do I need insurance for my company?
Have a Computer programming business, and went ahead and created it under multi member LLC, why because if something happens the company is responsible and I'm not which I declared in the Operating Agreement. So wondering we have few employee's but we don't hire enough or they work enough hours to get insurance to be offered to them. Now I personally don't have and kind of insurance, except car insurance and same goes for my member. We have a office but tis through Regis and yeah they handle all the permits and licenes for the building. But the only insurance I know of is health, dental, renters, Eye, Thats about it what would be good for us?

You are asking about Health and Dental insurance here, but there are a few types of insurance you may be forgetting that can be VERY important to your company's well being. General Liability and Professional Liability. An LLC is nice to protect its members from direct Lawsuit, but if someone sues the company and it runs out of assets in the lawsuit, any lawyer in the world would not hesitate to come after each of the members of the LLC. Even if they would not be able to come after you personally, your business would be all but dead at that point.

General Liability comes into play when you injure someone or damage someones property. Professional Liability applies when you advise a client to do something and when they follow your advise it costs them a lot of money or fails in some way. In either of these instances, your client could and probably would sue your business. Get these coverages and keep your business afloat.

Also, many other coverages are probably a good idea. Property insurance for the contents in the office your renting. Worker's Compensation in case your employees get injured on the job, as well as may other coverages that may or may not be worthwhile for you. Speak to an independent insurance agent and they can walk you through the coverages you need.

Good luck!

I imagine you will lose a lot of jobs if you don't have general liability AND professional liability policies. Call an independent broker and talk to him about your concerns.

And, just for the record, being set up as an LLC can't fully protect you as an individual. Anyone can sue you for anything they want. If a client wants to sue your company he can sue you personally, as well...

You don't have to offer health insurance to your employees. The types of insurance that you do need is a general liability insurance, a insurance on the property (leasehold items since you don't own the building) and most importantly if you have enough workers you need a workmen's compensation policy.

How about, Workers Comp? Not having coverage doesn't mean your company is off the hook for benefits. And since you're an LLC, ALL the employees would be entitled to medical payments and lost wages.

And general liability. And if the auto is used for business, your personal auto might not cover you. OR the car.

And I'd get a legal opinion in your state, about the degree of your personal liability, operating a company that has no coverage.

sit down with a local agent, to go over your exposures.

An E&O policy should be considered. (Errors and Omissions.)

You two may want to consider a buy/sell plan that is funded in case of death or disability. If one of you is married and dies, the surviving spouse owns the shares, not the business partner. Life insurance would allow you to fairly compensate the spouse for the business interest without them going into business with you.

Talk to the lawyer who did your LLC and ask for a referral to an independent agent.
