Do I qualify for Workers Comp?
I passed out at work and had carpal pedal spasms. They called 911 and an ambulance took me to a hospital. Do I qualify for workers comp? It was not my work's fault I passed out. The hospital & ambulance bill will be expensive and I don't know anything about workers comp. Also, I live in California.

No you don't, you said it your self, it was not from any injury at work. If you hit any body part on the way down, that might be covered, but any investigation as to why you passed out will not be covered. So you need to either use your insurance or work out a repayment plan.

A decent answer
Well you could file for work comp, it's your right to do so. However it would be tough to prove that your passing out and spasms was a direct result of work and what you where doing at the time of the "injury" was benefiting the company policies.

In a way you don't qualify for it. I would check with your HR department to check if they did file it just in case. If they did you can always call the adjuster and tell them that it wasn't work related but if they could check if they could pay the ambulance and hospital bill "without the admission of liability"

It doesn't hurt to take a stab at it. If they say no than you should file it under your private plan.

In CA the insurance company has to pay the first 14 days of a claim I believe so it might work your way, but again, I would call them first.

depends on how long you've been working there and stuff. If the dr says it wasnt work related and nothing made it worse then you won't be able to no matter what.

Zarnev
Workers Comp only pays for work related injuries. So if it had nothing to do with your work you won't get any benefits.

Most likely not - your health issue that happened at work, by coincidence, most likely is NOT a covered loss.

WC covers only work-related illness or injury. The WC physicians will have to determine if your condition is work-related.
