cheerfreak742 | Do health insurance companies charge per prescription? |
Im 18 years old and away at school but am still under my parents health insurance. Today I was prescribed aderol from a Psychiatrist my father and I both see. In the past when I have talked to my parents about my potential ADD they laughed at me and told me that ADD was not real. After testing, I have been prescribed Aderol. I still would not like my parents to know. I am wondering if the insurance company will show the names of the prescriptions I fill? |

Technically, they may be able to see a list of prescriptions filled under their policy. (For example, if they have online access to their pharmacy benefit information and set up an account. This depends on how your insurance company does their online accounts.)
But, if they see it, there isn't much they can do about it anyhow. You're over 18 and are taking it at the recommendation of your physician. |

I am not trying to degrade your parents but the dr is correct. there is adult add & adhd . If the dr prescribed Aderol by all means take it. I have dealt with add & adhd with my son (now 22 ) it started at age 5 &and my wife started 5 yrs ago . So it is real, very real, and getting more common. Ps don't worry about the Ins, Just take it. |

If you fill your prescription at a different pharmacy then they will never know you got a prescription filled at all. Insurance companies don't send an E.O.B for prescriptions. |

They aren't going to get a printout of your meds unless they look for it.
They will probably get an EOB from the office visit, though. |

It varies from company to company you've got to check with yours. |

you are supposed to collect as much as resource as you can by searching the relevant keyword in search engine,if you have
good luck there, then your problem solved.however,if you could not find the fitful
answer by doing that, here http://www.HealthInsuranceFreeTips.info/free-health-insurance.htm is the resource i prefered.

Yes they could see it. I can view all of our prescriptions online. It really depends on your parents policy and provider though as to whether they would see it or not.
You are 18 and if the Dr. saw a need for the adderol then your parents should understand. Tell them it is helping you get through the tougher classes. |
