hello. my brother just rang me to ask if i can ask this for him. he has agoraphobia and social phobia, meaning he doesnt go out, nor like to be around people he doesnt know.
Anyway he has broke his laptop as his cat knocked a glass of water onto it, and he was wondering if someone from the insurance company will have to come to his home to see the laptop if he claims, or if you have to send the item to them instead. he is just worried about someone he doesnt know coming to his house.

I can't imagine that it would be cost-effective to send out a loss-adjuster for something relatively small. By the time they've paid them and completed the paperwork etc, they'll have nearly spent the same money.
On the other hand, I know that there's been a lot of publicity about fraudulent claims and it could be that they make spot checks now to put people off. I'm sure that if that's the case, he'll have prior warning and can arrange for you (or someone else that he's comfortable with) to be there.
Also, be aware that it will put his insurance premiums up in the future, and a new insurer might not take him on for a year or something. |

An insurer, regardless of what country we are talking about, has the right to inspect the damaged property. Whether the adjuster would want to come out to the house or not no one can tell you except the adjuster. However I'm sure if you explained the situation I'm sure you can work something out. |

These days, insurance companies are being more careful with claims, mainly due to the fraud and exagerated claims that some people put in.
Don't be surprised if they visit.
BTW, take the battery out and let it dry out, it will probably be OK.
