Do medical insurance claims cover pre-existing diseases too ?
What is “non-disclosure of diseases”.

It depends. Some policies have pre existing condition clauses. However if you can show proof of insurance coverage continuously since the diagnosis of said disease, some insurance companies will cover you without a waiting period. This was the case for me. You will just need to ask your insurance company.

No it doesnt

sony
No, they don't. Non-diclosure is a diesases which we are not aware of it.

In 1996 congress approved the Health Insurance Portability Act which does not allow insurance companies to deny pre-existing claims as long as the employee had continous coverage for a period of 60 days.

Some plans called HIPAA plans also allow coverage without pre-existing conditions. This plans are often not cost-effective given they have a bad risk selection.

Non-disclosure of diseases infers that the insurance company may not request medical questionaire and or examination for underwriting purposes. This is a rare case and more consistent in the surplus market.

it all depends if this is a medical insurance thu your employer or an individual policy;

if thu your employer and had prior medical insurance with no gaps, most likely will cover; in some, they will have a 18 months pre-existing clause where it is not covered regardless if prior insurance; (if you dont stay 18 months, being fired, quit etc, then no coverage);

in a individual policy, depending on what state you live in, if you have some pre-existing diseases, they will not insure you at all;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;my husband has parkingsons disease and cannot get an individual policy; he can only go to the state fund which has a 100K lifetime;;;;;;;;maximum; (cost of $900 a month) cancer, stroke, heart attack or surgery could wipe it out; then at that point they (the providers) go after your assets; ie; home, savings etc; that is the major reason for universal health care; most people hate it, but with 47 million uninsured, a lot of them cant afford it, their employers dont provide or they get laid off; the major reason for bankruptcy in the US is medical;

when i completed an application for an indivual policy for myself, it went back 10;;;;;;;;years;;;;;;;;it had listing for at least 100 conditions; if any were checked yes, then i would not be insured with them; if by some chance they found out i lied then they could deny any claims and void my policy; can you remember the dates for all pap exams, any lab work that came back etc; this application requested all this info and you had to sign a waiver to allow them to get your medical records to validate it; so if you "non-disclose", and found out pre-existing, they wont pay;

at least with auto or home, your records are wiped out around 3 to 5 years and you can start over with a fresh start; but now with medical;

good luck

1. In the U.S., yes, but only after a certain number of months has passed, unless the person had creditable prior coverage. I do not know about India.
2. “Non-disclosure of diseases” is when a person who has a disease gets a policy without telling the insurance company about the disease.
