The only people that don't work for money are the ultra rich that don't need the money. no matter how much you enjoy the work you do, almost no one would do it for free. I absolutely love my work and wouldn't considering doing anything else, a lot of the advice I give is free, but if my company told me tomorrow "Alright Chris, we've gotta cut out al of your paycheck, but you can still do all the work for free", I'd have my resignation letter written before he even left my office.
Livin' on love is a utopian dream...you need money to survive these days. |

Working to get paid is just one reason to work. One needs money to sustain life. I think the overall impetus to work is to contribute to society. To achieve a goal. Doing anything that will benefit others. Look at the large number of people (from students to retirees) that volunteer at hospitals, churches, soup kitchens, athletic events for charity etc. These endeavors could not exist without the volunteers. But it is all work. Make no mistake about it. They do it because they enjoy it. They are helping. They are contributing. It's the same reason some people trade higher paying jobs for lower paying jobs. It's called job satisfaction. God Bless all of them and I hope you become one. |

I love work, sometimes I think I would work with no pay, I need something to do, but I don't think I would return to the same work daily without financial compensation. I run a daycare, I want to work with children, but dealing with that aspect of it makes the job a nightmare. People don't really consider their children a "job" and the always say, I forgot to bring my fee. Some parents are several days late each week. This is my income, not an allowance. I pay a mortgage, a light bill, an employee, and I purchase the supplies your children consume before you pay me. So I guess I get really stressed out sometimes about my pay. I owe, I owe, so off to work I go. |

Of course they do. Why else would someone work and not get paid? Unless they're rich and don't need the money then they volunteer their time. |

They also work to use their brain and help other people. |

I know I definitely do. The majority of the population does. But the thing we're "supposed" to be doing, is finding what we really WANT to do .. so essentially we'll get paid to do things we like to do, and THEN it won't necessarily be called "work". |

I would say that 99.999% of people work to get a paycheck. If we could all have a money tree to grow and nurture at home then no one would want to work. Volunteers don't get paid in money but they receive the joy and satisfaction of helping others and in a sense get paid that way. It's not always about the money but the feelings that one gets out of his/her work also. But I seriously doubt a lot of people would go thru med school to get paid crappy. |

Yup...we all had to. Otherwise people like me would be homeless. |

some work because they like their job
they see family
friends
or people they like
they like it better at work then at home
and then yes some people do work at home to get paid
usually thats how they can provide them or their family with their needs |

Yes, they work in order to earn a good living, keep a roof over their heads, food in their mouths, clothes on their body and shoes on their feet. A large majority of people are unhappy in their jobs, and only work there because they have no other choice. However, there are some people who really enjoy their jobs, and feel that its great that they get paid for what they do, cos they love it so much. |
