Recently I came across a opportunity from a friend of mine where I get paid (very well) to send messages on myspace for these California based Insurance companies. I would get paid based on how may ppl signed up after I sent them the message. The companies are "One Life World Wide", and "Affordable Professional Insurance Agency"(APIA). They sound professional but so do many scams. I haven't talked to any ppl with the actual company only my friend who has went over it with someone that refereed her and she has read the contract and paid a 16 dollar processing fee. Overall its one of those sounds too good to be true things but if it is true only an idiot would let it go past them. So has anyone else heard of these companies and how can I find if this is real before I get robbed? |

It is a pyramid scheme. A better "opportunity" would be to work for a "real" insurance agent setting up appointments for him. You could be paid an hourly wage plus bonuses for appointments and additional bonuses if any sales are made. |

OK, so your friend has signed up and paid a $16 "processing fee" for the privilege of ... what, exactly? Getting paid for sending messages on Myspace?
So your friend has become a spammer, the kind that Myspace and other such sites don't allow under their terms of service, and which can get her accounts suspended as fast as she creates them ... and has she made *any* money yet from doing this spamming? I'll bet you anything that she hasn't yet, and probably never will.
And I *guarantee* that these companies will never pay her back anything close to the $16 she paid them. That's the way these companies make their money. They don't make their income from the companies they're spamming for, they make their income from suckers like you and your friend who fall for their promises of easy money. |

Ugh...scam.
Any company that is going to charge *you* a processing fee to send spam messages for them is a scam.
Generally, it should raise a huge red flag to you any time you have to pay a fee to take advantage of an "opportunity." There are very few legitimate prospects that charge a fee up front.
P.S. If you want to know if an insurance company is licensed to do business in your state, you can check your state's Department of Insurance website. There should be a searchable function where you can look up any legitimate insurance company. |

I smell scam all over this one. They are using you for a lead generating system. Insurance Companies, Agents, and Brokers must be licensed to operate in California. If you would like to check their status with the state I would recommend visiting:
http://www.insurance.ca.gov/
There is a feature to check licenses. This is the sure fire way to find out. |

You check with your state insurance commissioner, to see if that agency is licensed in your state.
And you can look up companies, with AM Best (but not agencies).
I looked up One Life with AM Best, and they are NOT listed - so they are NOT an insurance "company". But that doesn't mean they aren't an AGENCY.
So, I think it's pretty safe to say that neither is an insurance COMPANY. |

ok so I googled em and well I didnt really look into it u should try but they have some website thingys i agree with the other dude the 16 was for what service any proffesional ins company has a website if there so cool then so do theyy besides as long as they pay u be happy also evaluate the friend like how he knows em. |
