Do you believe medical insurance should pay for breast implants?
Vasectomy, chiropractors, accupuncture, penile enlargement, orthopedic shoes? Why? Have you used it for such?

If you understand the basic concept of insurance - you'd know the answer. Insurance is meant for sudden and accidental events (e.g. unforeseen circumstances). Insurance is meant to protect you from severe financial loss from an unforeseen circumstance, so that if something catastrophic or detrimental happens to you, you are able to cope financially without it crippling you. A lot of what you mentioned above are elective procedures, meaning you choose to do them. Insurance is not a savings account...it peace of mind. You can pay premiums your whole life and never have a claim. Your best friend can pay his premiums for a week and have a $100,000 claim. That's because insurance is a unilateral aleatory contract.

breast implants: yes, for reconstructive work (after breast cancer or some other sort of medical problem)
Vasectomy: yes, it is considered a form of birth control (reversal of vasectomy, no)
Chiropractors and acupuncture: yes if used for medical problems
orthopedic shoes: yes, again for a medical problem
Penile enlargement : no, there is no medical need for a penile enlargement (make due with what you have)

Get your vasectomy treatment in India .IVF treatment ,IUI,ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges all types of medical treatment andsurgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as some of the surgery including ivf treatment is not covered by insurance.

They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your IVF treatment can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The doctors are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.I recently also read about a chinese couple facilitated by forerunners healthcare were able to get their baby by IVF and a surrogate mother.

my cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the forerunners healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full treatment for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.I strongly recommend this company to you as they can be of great help to you.hope this helps

Well no....unless there has been breast cancer.
Chiropractors---think mine does to an extent.
Accupuncuture--no.
Vasectomy, yes, they do pay for women.
Penile enlargement--no, that falls in the breast implant category.
I would think they would pay for orthopedic shoes.
Have used it only for getting the old tubes tied.

medical insurance should only pay for medically necessary procedures. If you want implants to look better, and think your insurance company should pay for them, you have a great start on becoming a real gold digger.

absolutely no they should not

i think med insurance only covers stuff that people really need, I'm sure they can live w/o a vasectomy, penile enlargement, and breast implants. But i do think chiropractors, accupuncture should be included. It'd help a lot of people who have aches and pains that won't go away and stop them from be able to do anything.

Breast implants: yes, but only for reconstructive surgery, such as following a radical mastectomy. I don't want my rates to go up because people think they will be happy with bigger boobs. It never works that way, anyway. Cosmetic surgery needs to be paid for out of pocket, it's elective.

I think cosmetic surgery should be paid for by insurance when it would benefit the patient's emotional well being. If a woman loses her breast to cancer, reconstructive surgery can make a tremendous difference in her recovery time and emotional health.
