Do you have to be added to car insurance if you live in the house and only have a photo id/not a license?

You should not have to be on the insurance if you are not a LICENSED DRIVER. I beleive you can still have a permit and not be placed on the insurnace... |

If you do not have a drivers license you are not allowed to operate any automobile. Therefore, you do not have to be listed on the insurance policy. However, if you have a drivers license and therefore can legally operate an automobile, the insurance company will require you to be listed on the policy. If all you have is a photo id and not a drivers license, you may need to take that to the agent so they can make a copy of it and document that you do not have a drivers license. That should take care of it. |

actually you need to inform the company you live in the house but are not licensed. they will add you to the policy under "non-drivers". this is because you live in the home and DO have access to the autos. |

You CANNOT be added to auto insurance if you don't have a license. If you're going to drive the car, you must have a license and be added as an additional driver on the auto policy. |

you have to be listed as a member of the household. The insurance company won't rate for you unless you get a license or have a license. But as a member of the household of legal driving age you have to be listed. |

I agree with the previous poster- though I've heard of insurance companies trying to do this anyway. Tell them, if they're going to charge for a non-driver, then you'll take your business elsewhere. If they don't change their tune, shop around and find a better deal. |
