staceyL | Do you know of any car insurance companys that only look back 1 or 2 years into your drivers record? |

No, here's why: If three companies look back four years, and one only looks back one year, all the people with accidents two years ago will end up getting policies from the company that looks back one year - and they will have more claims than the people that haven't had an accident in four years.
The claims will drive up their rates, which means the good drivers will go to the first three companies . .. so as their proportion of high risk to low risk drivers gets larger, the rates have to go up . . .it's a big circle.
That's why, in any state, when you see one company doing something in underwriting, the others doing business in that state usually do the same (credit scoring is a great example), so they don't get a disproportionant number of less desirable drivers. |

No all insurance companies look back in your driving record three years for minor violations adn five years for major violations, sucha s reckless driving, DUI, DWI, and others. I think that if you go and get a drivers liscence in another state then maybe you can get a clean mvr if you go to a smaller insurance company that really doesn't know what's up. |

The shortest record that a company looks at is Progressive, which goes back 36 months. |
