If you don't have a financial goal that the life insurance is meeting, then no, you don't need it. I don't expect to need it when MY kids are out of the house, either. |

If you are single, no. LTC insurance is more important than life insurance. Health insurance is more important than life insurance.
If you are married and have a pension that will shrink or stop when you die, consider insurance for the spouse.
PS funerals run $7000. It's nice to have left enough to pay for that. |

Look at your current financial position, if you have debt, a spouse, little savings or a funeral to pay for you may need it. If your single and your burial is paid for with little or no debt you do not need it. |

I think its a good idea for everyone to have life insurance. Unless you want to stick your kids with your bills and the cost of your funeral. And the younger and healthier you are when you get it, the cheaper it is. |

If life insurance would not help you to accomplish a financial goal, such as providing income for a spouse, paying college tuition for the kids, donating to a charity, or paying your estate taxes, etc. - you probably will not need life insurance when the kids are out of the house.
At that point, you may want a small policy to pay your funeral expenses and any outstanding bills or credit cards you may have. However, you may have money in the bank to pay off those debts when the time comes

P.S. - But, if you feel you need some life insurance for any of the needs mentioned above, make sure to buy it before you get much older, because it may cost more, your health may change, or you may be unable to get approved for the coverage. |

Are you planning to live forever? If so, don't take out a life policy, otherwise you may want to take a policy in case you happen to run out of assets, and die with no cash for your family to ay for your final expenses. Hopefully you are healthy, and not too old, and can afford it otherwise it's a different story |

You probably want to leave money to pay for a funeral, settle debts, and make sure your kids have money to pay for travel, or even to transport a body, etc.
Also, insurance is usually a tax free way to transfer assets to your kids and has lots of other functions.
