I started in insurance right out of high school and that was over 30 years ago and I do enjoy it. I started in commercial lines but have spent many years now in the personal lines. It's a good opportunity to advance, I'd recommend it! |

It is a VERY stressful job, I have been doing this since I was 17, now almost 23, and I do enjoy it yes, but you have to learn how to control yourself because SO many people call and tell you how worthless you are everyday. No matter who you help or how far you go for them sometimes it doesn't seem far enough. Then you do have those that love you and will only deal with you and send you flowers, cards, candy, etc. |

Most people don't want to talk about insurance, generally. I wouldn't do it ... it takes a long time to make the income the companies who are recruiting you (and getting paid for it, I might add) say you'll make. Usually, the companies don't even bother developing you, because it's a number's game. They know so many people will work out, and so many people won't, so it goes like that. They don't bother to invest time in training you to build a successful business. Commission jobs suck, as it is, unless you're making tons of money, and for that, you'd have to stick around and do really well for 4-5 years first. |

I was in insurance for 30 yrs, an agent for 5, women still
don't get paid as well as men and you will be relegated
to some secretarial chores, also with agents you will be
required to meet monthly goals(sales) or else! |
