I don't believe it's necessary.
What I believe IS necessary is price regulation of the Health Care Industry.
The doctors are only a small part of the problem. However they do not make as much as the CEO's of the so-called Health Insurance companies.

The only way they can pay these high salaries is to over-charge for many services. How many people have looked at the bill and found they were charged $1.50 to $3 for a single Tylenol tablet when you can purchase 50 of the same for $6 at a drugstore?
We don't need universal insurance, we don't need the Feds to make a law regarding insurance. What we need is for Washington D.C. to stop playing the stock market with health care company stock so they can have a clear mind when regulating them.
They ALL own stock and voting interests in major companies, including health insurance. How can they be making a good decision for us when it goes against their own selfish interests?
Congressmen and Senators, their aides, or their immediate families should not be allowed to purchase stock of any kind during their terms.
Maybe if this was the law we would have some people up there who honestly want to do the country some good - instead of getting the job only to line their pockets.

I think health insurance is nessasary because without it heathcare costs would be terrible, but I also think the insurance industry needs a complete and total overhaul.
Insurance puts a large emphasis on the bottom line and when a company is more interested in money than in heathcare it is the patient who suffers. When doctors dont order tests or hospitalize patients because their insurance wont cover the cost it is the patients who end up suffering and dying. |

ANY INSURANCE IS THERE TO PROTECT YOUR ASSETS!!!
The relevance of health insurance is dependant on the amount of wealth you have accumulated or plan to accumulate. If you are relatively poor ... single ... rent an apartment ... have a modest car ... lots of debt ... and a large credit bill ... there is no reason to strain yourself with the Burdon of health insurance ... an emergency room will tend to your medical needs ... then you can declare bankruptcy if the medical bills start to drown you.
If you have wealth ... home/town home/condo owner ... you have some debt ... you have a family to support ... retirement savings ... normal saving account ... a few nice cars ... well you will want to buy insurance to "PROTECT YOUR ASSETS" ... You don't want to get cancer and then have your house, cars, clothes taken away while you get poor medical care and your family is living on the streets do you?
Remember, we live in a Socialist America, not a Capitalist America ... there will be medical care as long as there is emergency rooms. You just need to determine your current net worth, and future net worth to determine how much insurance is right for you. |

yes recently my friend got charge 500$ for a minor check up .. if he had insurance he would have had to pay only about 100 $
also a couple of years back a friend had a brain tumor operated almost for minimum cost as he was insured and he had no idea he had the tumor before taking the insurance. It was only during a regular checkup that he found out. Having the insurance saved him about thousands of $.

Yes, because we never know what can happen. My brother-in-law was relatively healthy and not very old when he started getting fatigued and short of breath from even minimal exertion. He was diagnosed with Leukemia. He passed away a few months ago and his medical bills totaled over $100,000. If they had not had medical insurance my sister would have been left with this debt. Health insurance is one of those things that it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! |

yes its necessary for everyone. The cost of medical without insurance could cost you thousands, and millions. Alot of hospitals will send you away if you don't have a form of medical insurance. I personally would not want to go to the county for medical care, but would if had too. |

Well, maybe if you've got a goldmine somewhere, or make a ton of money, you might not think it's necessary. Even a wealthy person should know it makes economical common sense to HAVE health insurance. Hospital costs can get into the hundred-thousands real quick. |
