Steven C | Does Anyone use Farmers Insurance? |
I have had my car liability insurance with Allstate for a while now, but Farmers has given me a much much lower quote. Whats the difference? (besides the $200 over 6 monthes) |

Companies target different population groups. If the Farmers agent saw the old policy, and is quoting EXACT same coverage, then it's basically just that you're in a demographic that Farmers is targeting. That's just the way it works!
Farmers is a solid company, so don't worry about that! |

i have to disagree...i have written for Farmers with 2 different agencies in two different states and I do NOT ever want to write for them again. Both agencies pulled out from writing with them. They are nothing but problems in that company. As an agent we could never get answers from them and their claims handeling was awful. if you have more than one auto, they will issue a different policy for each car, which makes it even worse to deal with. |

my wife worked for farmers and they had very questionable claims handling procedures. also, you have to see how the policies compare to one another. its not just a matter of the actual liability limits. they offer two kinds of policies. one of them is a normal policy and the other is called the mid-century which is cheaper and offers greater restrictions on different things such as who can drive your car and things like that.
i wouldnt go for it |

Farmers is a good company - but odds are you can get a better rate than that online. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

Take care,

The difference is the what is and isn't covered between the 2 polices. For example, Allstate pays $300 towards a bail bond but Farmers may only pay $150 (in the event you're taken to jail for a DUI). |

I was not happy with them. The agent would not get back to me, lost information, then sent me a statement stating my account balance. One year later, they "found" that I had missed a payment. I waited almost another year for them to tell me that they would not insure my house. Then they raised my rates due to my credit score. (divorce blew it)
Right now I use USAA. You have to be military, or marry someone that has it.
I did a web search and found the first site posted below.
the second one requires registration, but will pinpoint ratings for you. |

They didn't get to be one of the top 5 insurance companies by providing bad service or handling claims improperly. That would put them out of business.
Try them out. If you don't like them you have every right to go to another company. |
