Yah, it really depends on your policy. If you have an HMO policy, you should be covered as long as the hospital call them within 24 hours.
Others have deductible and only cover some percentage.
You can go to carefirst.com and register to find out everything that is covered and not. Or you can just call them. |

What state? Fully insured or Self Funded? PPO, HMO, Managed Indeminty, EPO?
Anyway, the best way to find out is to get on line at their website, register and look under benefits. (The website should be on your card)
And look and see if urgent care is covered, too. Its usually a lot cheaper and if you can go there for your injury/illness, its a heck of lot easier too! |

I can't imagine they wouldn't--call them just to be sure.
As far as the previous answer--if you go to the ER and get a bill, don't assume that you have to pay it. 99.9% of the time, if you get a bill (especially from an ER visit) and you don't have a copay or something for it, it's something your insurance can take care of for you. If you call them and tell them you're being billed, they'll fix it for you. A lot of people blindly pay bills w/o calling the insurance and assume they have bad coverage, when if they just called the insurance they'd have 0 balance.

BC/BS has always covered all of my ER visits, until when they didn't that's when medi-care does or vice versa; but I haven't been on medi-care all that long. |
