Ultimately, you are the one who determines the affordability of your health insurance plan by deciding how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your health care with your insurance company.
If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles and low copays or as you desire a 0 deductible your monthly premiums will be significant.
On the other hand if you are young and healthy and rarely use the health care system you could consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe which will result in a relatively low monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit and still come out ahead.
You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. That adviser can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and copays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health situation.
Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably already know that there is much more to health insurance than price. Some might even "pitch" a discount plan that is not insurance at all. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage. |

no such thing.
At my work, I just heard insur costs were going up 20% next year, which means the premium just for a single person coverage will be over $300 per month-I have to pay 25% and copay is currently $15 and will probably go up and some of the copays on my meds are as high as $35 each. You will never find a plan like you are seeking - maybe 10 yrs ago, not anymore |

Kaiser Permanente, has several $0 deductible plans available in California. Their plans have high co-pay's that don't end until you reach your annual maximum, so it's not much different than a deductible. I am sure there are other as well, but call a local agent to find out what all your options are.
There are lot's of "Limited Benefit Health Plans" that are not insurance and don't have a deductible. Make sure that you get a "Major Medical" health insurance policy instead.

I am in Utah and we have one company that offers a $0 deductible. You should contact a local agent in your town. You can do that by filling out a form here: http://www.myinsurancequotes.net. A local agent will contact you and you can ask them if there are plans with no deductible available where you live.
Sincerely,
Jared B.

With health insurance, you get what you pay for. If you're 20 and perfectly healthy, at a healthy weight, you can get health insurance with no deductible, an HMO style plan, for about $250 a month. THAT IS a low monthly payment.
If you're 50, and perfectly healthy and a healthy weight, you're not going to find that kind of plan for under $500 a month, or even more.
If you're looking for a no deductible, $25 a month health insurance policy, it doesn't exist. Just like you can't buy a Cadillac brand new off the lot for $25. It costs what it costs, and the less healthy you are, or the older you are, the more it costs. |
