if its going to cost that much,is it really worth having it fixed? you can always do what i did for a few years,go to a small garage dealer,that sells used cars,pick one up for about£200.00 with a years test,scrap it at the end of the year,and get another...look at it this way its more or less free motoring? i did this for a few years,and when you work out your instalments on h.p you save thousands? do this and when you et a bit flusher ,put your x-tra cash to one side,and then go and haggle a deal on a decent motor,for CASH? one thing Ive learnt..you can plough as much cash into you're beloved car as you want,but you're fighting a losing battle,cos you will never recuperate you're investment?one more thing...i know more than any-one its a tad bit embarrassing driving a has-been car if you like? while every-ones driving about in brand new ones...but one crucial thing...yours will be paid for? |

tell you what, come and work at my factory for a week and I will pay you in instllments over the next 6 months. not going to work is it, you wouldnt work for me like that, so why should a mechanic work for you like that.
unless you can find a friend / family member who could do it on the side for you I would have thought the answer is No. |

I think it's unlikely. Either save up first or get a bank loan.If the repair bill is very high ,buy a cheaper car for now on terms to get you mobile/. get the other car fixed later when you can afford it and sell the cheap one. |

If your mechanically inclined in anyway, then do as much of the DIY stuff as possible. Then see whats left. Or, find someone who'll install parts if you buy them for a flat fee. |
