Does anyone know of a health insurance provider that will reimburse past ER visits if it's with-in 6monts?
I have had no health insurance for the last 1yr since being downsized by my prior employer. My old beneifits expired and I didn't continue due to the higher cost without the help of my previous employer. I have had some medical issues causing me to visit the ER in the last 6months. I was wondering if any health provider reimburses their new clients on preexisting medical matters. If so please tell me some, so I can save myself from soon to be high medical bills. I'm cleaning up my past negitive credit issues and I don't want this lowering my score after all the catch up I have been playing.

You can apply for medical assistance if you have incurred a lot of medical expenses -- and they do go back a certain amount of time and cover your medical expenses.. speak with someone at your doctors office or hospital ..kr

Good Luck!

No insurers cover expenses incurred before coverage , and most have a 30 period of premiums before coverage actually begins .
Depending on the issues at the ER , some providers will refuse to issue coverage at all .
Your best bet will be to try and get the hospital to waive the fees based on indigence .

No private insurance will go retroactive on claims, not even by a day, that's the hardened truth. HOWEVER, Medicaid (at least in NY) will go back 90 days on charges. No health insurance will go back six months.

mbrcatz
No. That's not what it does. That's like asking for a job, but telling your prospective employer you expect them to pay you for the past six months.

You're going to have to negotiate with the hospital billing department and get on a payment plan.

Zarnev
No, the insurance companies will not pick up past charges. In fact, depending upon what the medical issues were that caused you to go the ER the companies may decline to accept you. Or they may place a rider on the condition. A rider means they will accept you but not cover the pre-existing health condition or anything related to the condition for a period of time. This time period could be from one year to permanent, depending upon the condition.

HA! You could try googling "insurance companies in the business of losing money," but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Flower Girl
NO NO NO NO NO! This is a stupid question! Most people have a hard enough time getting their insurance to pay their current bills, there is no way in hell they are going to pay past bills.
