For P&C, auto, home, etc go with the big carriers, State Farm, Allstate,etc. For life & Health the best way is to find an independent broker you feel comfortable with. Since a broker represents many different companies they have already done the research for you and wil be able to tell you which companies will best fit your specific situation.
I suggest using yellowpages.com tosearch for brokers in your area and call a few to see what kind of vibe you get. If the broker does not ask you questions about your specific situation and needs mooce on the next one. |

1. Be sure you know everything there is to know about the company.
2. What are other people are saying about the insurance agency.
3. How good do they handle insurance claims.
4. Is it a small company or a large company. Bigger companies are somewhat easier to deal with.
5. How much does it cost, you want to shop around for cheap insurance.
