When you merge policies... you get multi-car discounts
AND if you buy a house or get renters insurance - you get a multi-line discount...
Other than those 2 things (which are pretty big!)
My cars Multi-car discount is $108!
There is no actual "marriage credit" multi-driver discount is SO SMALL that you're unlikely to notice it |

yes getting married can help, if your new husband/wife has a clean driving record. this is because most companies give a martial discount as they feel people who are married are a lessor risk than single people. If your new spouse has violations then your rate will increase over the discount. |

This just happened to me last year. I was having my insurance re-evaluated and my agent said my insurance rate wouldn't go down until i turned 25 or got married, whatever came first.
I am on a monthly plan and When i was 24 I paid $120 a month for full coverage, when I turned 25 It went down to $65!! |

With my insurance company, being married will help with eligibility if you are under 25 ,not rate. The reason the insurance seems lower when you get married is because you add a second car and get the multi car discount. There is no way to say how much the discount is because every company is different. Good luck. |

There's no one size fits all answer.
IT depends on what state you are in, and THEN, it depends on which company you have. Some states do NOT have a different rate when you get married. Many states, the married discount only applies to WOMEN who get married. Some, it applies to the men at one age, and the women at another.
You're going to have to ask YOUR AGENT, for information that's specific to your state, and your insurance company. That's why you have conflicting answers - it's different. |

Some insurance companies may attract youth by cutting down insurance charges saying special considerations for married persons, or old age etc. But those are all advertisements. Dont get married at the expense of your car insurance. Get married when you feel it is right time for marriage. (get a personal insurance before marriage...........?) |
