if you have squatters, then you don't live in the home. therefore you cannot carry homeowners insurance. if the home is vacant, you would need to carry a vacant dwelling policy in the property. if you have a homeowners policy on it then they can deny the claim because you don't live int he home. |

See, that's vandalism. And while vandalism IS covered under the homeowners clause, there's another clause in the policy, that says if the house is vacant or unoccupied more than 30 days, they no longer cover vandalism losses (or burst pipe damage).
In order for there to be squatters, the house has to be unoccupied.
So, no coverage. |
