I also have state farm insurance and the few times that I have gotten a ticket I just didn't tell them and they've never found out so my insurance has never been raised because of that lol, for my accidents though...yes. |

When the policy renews they may re-run your MVR and find the ticket. Sometimes they only check it every year or so, but because your a young driver I suspect they will check it every six months. It may not show on the new policy why it went up, but if she calls they'll tell her. It's better to own up to it now before she finds out later on her own. |

Whether or not your rates increase depends on the company you are with. Some companies automatically run your MVR every time your policy renews, so chances of an increase is likely. Other companies do period checks - could be as soon as 6 months, or as long as 5-10 yrs. In this case, you may be lucky enough not to have it affect your rates. With one ticket, you will probably not have a drastic increase, since you already have an established policy. However, if you continue to rack up tickets, your insurance will skyrocket, so slow it down! In the meantime, start saving your money, that way if your rates DO go up when your policy renews, you can pay for the increase, and show your mom that you are becoming more responsible. |

When it comes time to renew the insurance you are asked if you have and tickets or accidents. So when it comes time for your parents to renew, they will have to answer that question. Insurance companies can retrieve your driving record, and your insurance rates can go up. The other alternative is to complete a state operated safe driving course. This will get rid of the points for the speeding ticket and may keep it off your record. Every state varies in this regard. |

Mine never has. I have had probably 6-7 speeding tickets in my adult life (I am 33) and my insurance has never been affected. I am with State Farm, and even get a safe driver discount!
But they have not been ridiculous speeds for the tickets, either. |

Some papers will put your name in the paper that you got a ticket. If that happens, you might as well give up now because someone is bound to see it and tell your mom.
Your insurance may or may not go up due to the speeding ticket depending on the situation, if you were going way over the speed limit, it could go up. Could even go up if your insurance company is anal. |
