You seriously need to be more specific. For instance, were you hit by lightning or did you drop a flame on ti? Whatever it is??? We have NO clue what the situation is. You can SUE anyone you want to sue -- this is the USA.....doesn't mean you'll win. Be more specific please and we MAY be able to help.
Also, if it has to do with a legal issue, mention what state you live.....THAT'S a biggy. |

You can, but I wouldn't.
Keep in mind, that insurance companies will cancel your homeowners insurance in a New York minute.
Rule of thumb: If you have the money available, ALWAYS pay the claim yourself...save it for when you don't have the funds...as in, THOUSANDS of dollars.
Insurance companies don't make the decision of whether or not to cancel you based on the $$$ amt of the claim, they do it based on the number of claims.
Example with State Farm...18 year-member wtih excellent credit:
a) Filed a $250 claim when his daughter lost her band instrument.
b) Filed a $700 claim for a small roof repair from a storm.
They cancelled him.
Compare that to people who have LOST ENTIRE HOMES due to fire, and the insurance company didn't cancel them after paying it. |

Do not cash the check from Edison before you contact your insurance agent because they may want to pursue Edison for a bigger settlement than that. |
