can you include someone that is not your family in your parents health insurance? We have United health care. How do i find if the person wanting to be added in the insurance plan is eligible? He is 23 years old, has a job, is independent and who also recently had a DUI on March.
I really need to find out so i would appreciate if someone could give me information.

I really don't think it is possible unless your parents had legally adopted him as their child. I know if you are under 25 years old and in school you can still be on your parents insurance, but I do not think you can add someone who is not a legal child of yours. You should call United Health Care and ask tomorrow morning. |

Normally, on an employer's group health insurance plan, the employee can only include themselves, their spouse, and dependent children.
You can't add a kid's boyfriend to the plan. |

You've answered your own question - he's 23, independent, and not in your family.
Of course he can't be added to your parents health insurance. He's not their dependent.
If it was as easy as just finding some random person who will let you leach off them to get on their benefits, do you think there would be any uninsured people left in this country? Everyone would just find a random friend or neighbor to tack them on their benefit plan. It doesn't work that way. Health insurance is for legal dependents. |

check with insurance company my understanding is that students 23 and under are eligable otherwise 18 the dui has no bearing. Many state are now offerin insurance so check that out |

He can't be on your health insurance if he's not married to someone in your family.
He can be included in your EAP coverage (short term mental health counseling) if he lives in your home.
