I had signed up for life and accidental death insurance through my employer on july of 2008, on jan. 12th I decided to call the life insurance(allstate) to ask how much I am paying monthly all together for it ( it has been deducted from my paycheck since august).they had told my that they have not have had one payment come in. I'm shocked but not really cause my employer (assisted living facility) is shady (doesn't pay us on time,gives us a hard time when missing hours on paycheck constantly with everyone,having residents who cant lift themselves and we have no lift machines). How can I trust this company to pay my life insurance for now on, I have been TIGHT on money for this guy to not pay my insurance. When I talked to allstate insurance people they said that if I had died yesterday I would have been tough out of luck cause I have not paid one premium. What do I do?? Who do I call??? |

moni r, Life insurance is actually very flexible. Since I live in Wyoming I'm not familiar with the California laws and regulations, so I recommend you call a nearby life insurance agent. http://www.americaschoicetoday.com/Life-Insurance.html They will be able to assist you. |

Clearly, you can't trust them. You haven't been added on. Your employer is the one at fault, not Allstate.
If you want life insurance, pay for it privately. Send a letter in writing to your employer, requesting a refund for the premiums they've deducted from your paycheck.
And start hunting for another job, before your paychecks start bouncing. |

This is actually quite common. Usually it is not on purpose, but just neglegence on the company's part.
This is one of the reasons why I suggest that most people don't rely on life insurance from their employer. If you are in reasonably good health you should be able to find a cheaper policy on the open market and then your life insurance coverage won't be tied to your employer at all.
Also in this instance you should get your premiums back from the company. |

in California normally no meter what employer does or does not do, employee is always right. So call their HR department, and if they still don't pay, go to the local edd department.... |

Contact your employer's Human Resource Dept. and get this straighten out and you can have it automatically deducted out of your bank account to pervent any other mis-understandings.
Then have human resources credit your paycheck for the monies they have already took out. |
