Fire insurance claim?
I had a fire in a back bedroom. small and accidental, not too much damage. but the whole house has smoke damage. do I calim all contents that have smoke damage? the whole house was filled with smoke. can I calim all furniture, electronics, ect.? or will the ins. co. to just pay get things cleaned? I need help fast! thanks!
Yes. The fire claim includes the items damaged by fire, smoke, and also the water damage from the fire department.
"Claiming" things doesn't just mean replacing them - they WILL try to have the smoke/soot cleaned from as many items as possible. So when you make out your claim list, do NOT throw anything away until the adjuster says you can.

Insurance is designed to get you back where you were before the covered incident occured. If your policy has "replacement cost coverage" and your contents cannot be cleaned, you will be paid for new furniture, minus your deductible. If you have "actual cash value" coverage, you will only get paid what your stuff is actually worth, minus your deductible. Be sure and turn in all damage regardless of how it will be covered. This is what you pay your premiums for. By the way, call your agent to see exactly what the terms of your policy are. Good luck.

If it can be cleaned they will prolly pay to get it cleaned, if its damaged beyond economic repair- ie- Costs more than its value to fix- They'll replace it- Read the small print on your policy as well. Hope this helps. Dak

This totally depends on your policy. You'll need to look under the covered items section in the policy. I wish I could be more specific. You could always take the short cut and call your agent and have them research it for you.

Your fire insurance should take care of all damages whether smoked or burned up. The insurance gives you the money and you pay for your own repairs What ever was damaged you claim it.
