For life insurance purposes, does the urine sample test for drugs?
Will that stop me from getting life insurance????

Yes, and yes.

Suzanne: YPA
Most urinalyses only test for the drugs cotinine (a metabolite of nicotine); cocaine; and THC (a chemical found in marijuana). However, some insurers use an expanded panel of tests and, in addition to the tests listed above, they look for PCP, amphetamines and opiates.

Not all life insurance applications require that a urine specimen be given. Ask your agent for details.

Hadley
The life insurance urine sample test is used to check for use of drugs and any common diseases you may have.

The results are used to determine if you are accepted, and if so, how they will rate your policy based on the results.

There are other options. Some life insurers offer life insurance with no medical exam.

That means there are no physical exams, no doctors' tests, no urine samples and no blood work.

You do need to answer all questions honestly so they don't dispute any claim to pay on your policy.

The insurance company generally has up to two years to contest your policy from the time it's issued.

Also, no exam life insurance policies may charge more because they accept some people other companies may not accept.

To learn more about term life insurance with no exam visit https://insurance.hsbcusa.com/quotal/simple-term-hsbc.cfm?AgentId=9200&mc_id=107TVXWFW

They offer you up to $250,000 term life insurance protection for 10, 15, 20 or 30 years.

I hope that helps! Best of luck to you.

Yes they test ... think about it.

ernesto_tig
Yes they typically check for a full spectrum of legal and illegal drugs. Yes it can prevent you from getting insurance.

As an added bonus, depending on what they find, they'll report you to the Medical Information Bureau (www.mib.com) a clearinghouse of medical information used by medical and life insurance companies. If it's illegal drugs, you'll be flagged as uninsurable, then you'll be turned down for life and health insurance now and every time you apply. Not forever, just the rest of YOUR life.

Something you may want to consider.

Yes. If you currently use drugs, you should tell your agent. There are companies that will still make good offers depending on your usage (ie. pot once a month or so could be standard with the right company). If you lie on the app and die during the contestability period, your family gets nothing.

avaldreteiv
Yes it tests for drugs, Diabetis and STDs.
