what do you do when you need prescriptions? We don't have medical insurance right now due to my husband switching jobs, and he needs blood pressure medicine that runs over $100. I called his dr and asked for samples, but haven't heard back. he must have this medication. Are there any legal programs that "give" medications to people with no insurance? I would appreciate any info.

Some pharmaceutical companies make their medications available at low cost to those without medical insurance. Find out the manufacturer of your husband's medication, and then contact the company or go online to their web site.
I know how rough this can be, as I've been without insurance for substantial periods in my life as well. Good luck! |

The drug companies have special programs you can take advantage of plus you can get individual health insurance for probably less than employer benefits offer it. Check online for "individual health insurance" and find out what pharmaceutical company makes his medication and ask them what programs they offer. |

I see Montel Williams in a commercial about prescriptions for people that cannot afford their meds. I'm sure you can google Montel Williams prescription plan and find it. In the mean time, maybe there is a lower cost alternative RX that he can take. There usually is a lower cost generic drug that has the same active ingredients as the higher prescriptions. Doctors depend on the drug reps to educate them on the drugs, and the drug reps push the expensive prescriptions because it gets them a big fat bonus! |

Try the $4.00 rx thing at walmart... Call the Walmart pharmacy, and see if the rx he takes is on the list.
Or, call the manufacturer. they may have assistance programs.
If any of this take a while, buy a weeks supply from the pharmacy. |

A GREAT alternative, is asking your doctor for an alternative prescription that comes in a generic form. Walmart and Sam's Club sell hundreds and hundreds of generic prescriptions for $4 for 30 days supply. Cheaper than most prescription copays.
You can't get the newest, latest & greatest, but if you can't afford the drugs, the older ones are better than nothing!! |
