Most employer's group health policies will NOT cover a child over 25, unless they are incapacitated - read, incompetant, and not capable of living on their own (example - mentally retarded adult children).
If you are a disabled child, though, and have been disabled since before you were 18, you might be eligible for SSDI and medicare under your parents' social security credits. |

There are plans in some states, including mine, that allow a dependant to stay on the parent's policy until they turn 25. I'm not aware of any plan that goes beyond 25. |

The only time that a child can remain on their parents' insurance until the parent dies or stops working is when the child is permanently and totally disabled.
(For example, a developmentally disabled child who will never live on his/her own would be able to remain on the policy as a disabled dependent. And yes, you do have to provide official documentation of the disability.) |
