It's called insurance fraud - it's a felony - and you could go straight to the penitentiary. Good news is, is that if your in prison, you get free health care.

see, this is what makes me mad. ppl who TRY To cheat the system. look, if you dont qualify for MEDICAID, (not medicade) then there must be a reason why, apparently the government thinks that you make enough money to be able to AFFORD your own insurance.

I would rather continue paying on my high medical bills than risk going to prison by lying about that. Most states have other programs besides medicaid if you have a medical need and qualify for it, so call them and ask them what is available.

There is also a program I believe it called the Hill Burton program, that can help with hospital bills, you can ask your hospital billing dept about it or any other programs they may have to help.

Don't they ask for proof of income? Seems like to government would be a little smarter than you're giving them credit.

I am sure folks have done this for the same reason you are asking. Bear in mind that Social Services ask for a lot of paperwork, including where you work, their address, A PAY STUB from there and your SS number. Be very careful, there are far reaching and expensive consequences to doing this. Michelle

Have you considered purchasing a high deductible health insurance plan to lower your monthly premium? I have a $5000 deductible plan, yet I do not need to meet the deductible for such things as regular office visits, generic prescriptions, annual physical, immunizations, and urgent care. The monthly premium is very reasonable.
Contact your local Blue Cross Blue Shield, or find them online for a price.
