P | Health Insurance Question/Fraud? |
Hey everybody. I have a friend who is trying to get health insurance but has run into a roadblock. This friend has never had insurance and has therefore paid for any doctors visits with cash. She lost all of her records in a storm (this is Florida) and therefore doesnt know how to answer the questions on the insurance application. She isnt a law breaker, just wants to know how to proceed to avoid breaking the law. Thanks a lot for the input |

She should answer to the best of her ability. No one really remembers the exact date of a doctor's visit on an application, anyway -- if it makes your friend nervous, have her mark "all dates approximate" on the app.
However, that's no excuse for not listing any serious issues, even if the dates aren't exact. |

She should just answer honestly. Even if there is no record & something creeps up then the insurance company may be able to prove it was preexisting & there won't be coverage. You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.
