You may want to try a website that compares multiple companies at once to get you the best price. I am paying less than ½ after I did.

Go to: http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=616163&Type=health

Take care,
Casey

A lot depends on the state you live in. Each state has different limits on what companies can charge. I am in the same situation and bought a policy from Aetna through www.ehealthinsurance.com. It was pretty easy to use and you can get a quote very quickly. There are tons of different policies available that suit different needs. We usually have cash in savings so I chose a lower premium with higher co-payments for services. I also knew that with 4 kids I needed unlimited office visits! They also have a # you can call if you get confused about all the options.

Good Luck!

Hi....My name is Jeff and I am a licensed Health Insurance agent. The company I work for has a website that will show all of the plans across all insurance carriers in the State of California. All you need to do is enter in your zip code and your families information (age, gender, etc...) and you will see ALL plans available to you in your State along with the monthly cost and the ability to enroll online. To get there follow this link: http://family.millerwade.com/quote.php

Good luck....our website has our office number....If you need any further help call it and ask for me.

Financial Assistance and Other Resources for People With Cancer:Cancer imposes heavy economic burdens on both patients and their families. For many people, a portion of medical expenses is paid by their health insurance plan. For individuals who do not have health insurance or who need financial assistance to cover health care costs, resources are available, including Government-sponsored programs and services supported by nonprofit organizations. Cancer patients and their families should discuss any concerns they may have about health care costs with their physician, medical social worker, or the business office of their hospital or clinic.

In 1946, Congress passed a law that gave hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities grants and loans for construction and modernization. In return, they agreed to provide a reasonable volume of services to persons unable to pay and to make their services available to all persons residing in the facility’s area. The program stopped providing funds in 1997, but about 300 health care facilities nationwide are still obligated to provide free or reduced-cost care.

is the website for free or low cost children's health insurance, if you qualify. It's a great plan, and usually includes dental.

If you buy a family policy, it's probably going to run you about $1100 a month, and everyone has to be pretty healthy in order for you to get approved. At those rates, you could afford a $5,000 deductible on a major medical policy, and save some money.

As far as where to buy it - go to a local, independent agent. They'll know who's competitive in your area - and more importantly, who the local docs take for insurance.

DO NOT buy health insurance off the internet - you've got a great chance of getting scammed that way. AND, do NOT confuse a "health discount plan" with "health insurance". They are NOT the same thing. The health discount plan is a SCAM!!

Oh, if you really, really can't afford the health insurance rates, but don't qualify for CHIP, you *might* want to consider the medishare program, if you qualify. http://medi-share.org/ is the link for that.
