You need to find a better job, with better health insurance.

And keep in mind, your employer is probably paying half the cost right now. Your REAL problem, is that car. You bought a car you can't afford.

Your car should be 25% of your takehome pay, OR LESS. And the insurance on a car with a loan on it, is HORRIBLY high for young drivers.

My advice: sell the car, buy a $1,000 beater, and pocket the $700 a month difference (car payment and increased insurance cost). You'll have plenty left to pay your $100 a month health insurance. AND save to buy your next car, for cash.

Ohio Health Insurance

There are a wide range of available policies. "Saver" and "Value" policies cost the least, but usually have limits on the number of office visits you have.

Ohio Health insurance rates are quite affordable, as are those of some other states.

Find a LOCAL broker in your state and have him/her design a plan for you.

Health insurance in the US is a real mess. But there's a pretty good article that lays out the limited options that are available:

Take a look. Hope it helps.

just do an internet search for individual insurance coverage because it will be different depending on where you live. It helps to have if you take any prescriptions but watch for hospital visits.

They will list different plans offered and some will be more expensive than others. The prices went up as the coverage got better and they will show percentages that you and the insurance co. will be liable for in diffferent situations like: 20%/80% - where you pay 20% of a hospital visit and they pay 80%, etc.

Out of college I paid about $60.00/month for over a year until I got a job that offered benefits.
