'm not sure what the exact rules are in the US, but going on general experience you MIGHT be able to claim if your doctor feels that not having the surgery would lead to future medical or mental problems. An example of this would such as cosmetic surgery on a disfiguring birthmark on a child..... i.e. it's not medical, it won't kill you, but it might affect their general mental well-being. Another example I've heard of is breast reduction surgery as this can alleviate back problems and other issues. What you won't get is a face-lift or a tummy tuck ! |

~~I have never known of an insurance which will cover cosmetic surgery, unless it is somehow a medical necessity, which is very rare.~~ |

No.
And if such a plan existed, the premiums would be so ridiculously high that you'd be better off paying for the surgery yourself anyhow. |

Only if the insurance contract has a term that allows it and/or 'cosmetic' procedure might somehow qualify as medically necessary or o/w falls into the net of 'covered' procedures. Start with the definitions of covered procedures. If, for example, insured was injured and required plastic surgery remove scar, that might qualify for coverage in some policies. very rarely does any insurance cover cosmetic.. sometimes, you can have them coded as doctor's visits, and they will be covered. but it really depends. you need to call your insurance company. |

Nope, there's no such insurance. That's because, the only people that would ever buy it, would be the people that wanted to use it, and afterwards they would let it cancel.
There's no "sharing of cost" with that. Sorry. |
