Hi Kim, If you have a catastrophic illness this is a pretty common scenario whether you have health insurance or not. I don't know anyone who can afford the FDA approved medications if they have no health insurance. To boot even many people who have health insurance cannot afford the expensive co-pays. If it is any consolation, even the people who can afford the co-pays or who can pay out of pocket retail costs for MS meds opt not to do so for many reasons. You can look into a very low cost drug called LDN (low dose Naltrexone) and see if your doctor will prescribe it. LDN has been around a long time but has not as yet been approved for MS by the FDA. This drug was developed for the treatment of drug addiction, but a Harvard educated doctor found that it worked for people who have any auto-immune disease. It is currently in drug trials in this country as well as many others and shows great promise. I have been on LDN for almost three years now, and I am doing very well on it. At $50.00 retail cost for a three month supply, it is God-send for me as well as a bargain. The only other thing that I can recommend is applying to NORD, the National Organization for Rare Disorders. It takes ten weeks or more to get a response from them, and you must submit all your financial data. I make about the same money as you do, and I don't have any kids but they did finance the entire cost of Copaxone including shipping for two years. You do have to apply early in the calandar year to get assistance because they run out of funds by mid-year. You cannot get medicare until you have been collecting Social Security Disabilty for quite a few months so that is not an option for you. |

If you're working with Shared Solutions, I'm guessing you are going on Copaxone correct? Be aware that there are insurance companies even with perscription plans who don't want to cover this because it's expensive. So this is not a new problem, you are not alone.
Contact your neurologists office. They should have a case manager who can work with you to find affordable treatment options.
You could try Partnership for Prescription Assistance. Simple application on line to see if you are eligible. https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php?PHPSESSID=65826e39fb036fe2feab9e441024b71f
Contact the National MS Foundation http://www.nationalmssociety.org/
(site is acting up today, but normally has great information)
Find you local chapter and see if their member can point you to some assistance programs in your area.
Good luck! |

Several pharmacies provide discounted medication and Montel has a program for free medications. He has MS too. |

Check into getting benefits by seeing if social security will consider you eligible for benefits under disability. If they do you can then ask for Medicare early coverage that would include prescription. Some drug companies have assistance programs that they offer also. |

Have you looked into herbal medicine, way better than being on medication which is like drug addiction. Got o purity products for remedies! |

Yep, now you've got that diagnosis, you won't find a private insurer to cover you.
Best bet, is go back to your doctors, and ask if there's something that comes in a generic, on the $4 a month list, that will work for your MS. |

Has anyone tried using Canada pharmacy to get Copaxone? 28 prefilled 20mg syringes for $1400 (approximately). |
