We have been having a lot of rain here, more than usual....A few nights ago, it poured for hours, and my roof, which had never had problems in the past, had a leak and water got into my house and ruined my ceiling in the kitchen.....Any ideas if this would covered under home owners? it depends on what caused the roof to begin leaking, if it's old and worn out then the roof is not covered but the interior damage is, if a branch fell or hail damaged the roof then it's covered along with the inside damage. read you homeowner policy, it's a named peril type policy |

Flood Insurance sometimes is a little different, but this is just normal damage. I would think the insurance company would pay for the damage and fix the roof. I would be very surprised otherwise. |

Your insurance will probably cover it, since it's damage from the storm. However, some insurance companies will try to convince you that all you need is to patch the roof instead of getting a new one. And depending upon your deductible, the patch work may not even cost as much as your deductible.
That was the case when my roof was damaged in a storm. The insurance company said it would cost about 400 dollars to fix my roof and my deduct. is a thousand. |

Most likely covered. Check to see if you had any hail damage that could have caused your leak. My neighbor got a new roof from the insurance since water came into his house due to a hail storm caused roof damage. |

If you have an HO3 policy form, this would be covered. The leaky roof itself is NOT covered, but the water damage to the inside IS covered. But you need to take immediate steps to prevent further damage - ie, fix the roof! |
