So my mom just got into a car wreck and she was in the hopital for 2 days and the bill came out to be $50,000. Well, my mom got in the wreck when she was out of town, in California. Well, she came back home which where we live is Texas and my parents are unsure of what to do. They have gone through it with the lawyer of what to do with insurance paying a certain amount and right now it's pending on how much they are going to pay. Well, I was wondering if anyone knows of any programs out there that help in times of this? Thank you in advance for your answers. If you need any other details please message me.

Call the hospital where she was treated. Most hospitals have payment plans, and some (mostly nonprofits) have grants that will pay some or part of the bill for you depending on family income. The billing department at the hospital where she was treated will know about what options are available to her.
Also, I don't know about CA or TX, but here in Ky, if you're injured in an auto accident, then auto insurance pays for treatment. |

Contact the billing dept where the accident occur and see if they have some type of assistance program. The other person car insurance should pay for her medical expenses. Some hospital will work out a plan for you. Maybe your mother car insurance will cover. Some states have programs to covered the uninsured. Contact the bureau of insurance in your state. |

contact the hospital (in person) and tell them you want to see the financial person in charge of your bill,simpley tell them you can not pay the bill no insurance,make known that you know that they have donated funds for people can't pay.good luck. |

No programs to help, it's called YOUR car insurance, your health insurance, your savings, your friends & family.
If she bought underinsured motorist coverage on HER auto policy, she can collect there, and she can collect under HER medical payments - even if she was at fault. Insurance isn't going to pay more than the policy limit - not her insurance, and not the other guy's, either. |

You Mom's car insurance, the other driver's car insurance and/or your Mom's medical insurance should take care of these bills then fight it out themselves about who gets reimbursed. As long as she had insurance she should be all set. If there are out of pocket expenses she should contact the hospital or wait for them to contact her to set up a payment plan or apply for financial assistance. |
