My parents will start living in the US several months a year or more as legal visitors to live with us until they get green cards and can move here permanently. They are close 56, 59 years old. You won't be able to get them "real insurance" until they're actually here. Then they'll have to apply, which will be difficult since providing evidence of insurability - that they're not already impaired - will need some medical evidence and their medical history will be outside of the US.
Unless you live in a state like NY, which bars insurers from denying coverage except in limited situations, you may have difficulty. |

Well, the real answer is, you're probably not going to be able to get them this.
There aren't any companies specializing in this kind of risk, because, frankly, the companies can't charge high enough premium to cover the risks. Even if they were US Citizens, and living here all the time, they'd have a HORRIBLE time finding insurance, even at $1,000 per month, per person, due to their age.
They'll have more luck with that gimicky travel insurance, sorry to say. |
