Monika W | How can I get a health insurance that I can afford? |
I work full time and my husbant too but our jobs don't offer a health insurance. We hava just enough money to pay the mortgage, other bills and to survive the month. We would like to have a baby and the only thing that is holding us up is no insurance. I could only find family insurance that's over $500 a month and we could never afford that. And we make "too much" to qualify for help from the government. Does anyone know any affordable insurance or help from somewhere. Also, without $1000s in deductibles and coinsurance? |

Individual Health Insurance will vary depending on your location. I would suggest calling a couple of brokers in your area as they have better awareness of your local market conditions.
Also, you will want to really focus into the maternity issue. A lot of individual carriers wont cover maternity and if they do, they normally apply benefit waiting periods of 1 or 2 years or higher cost sharing.
Another good resource would be www.ehealthinsurance.com. They address the maternity issue on all their quotes and have a good pool of national carriers on thier side. |

Hey Monika!
I do agree, health care insurance is too expensive.
However, you do have the option of comparing plans and rates for yourself in order to try to find a better deal for your family.
You can compare up to five free, no obligation quotes on health insurance plans at InsureMe - visit
http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=613598&Type=health
If you have any questions about plans you can ask them. You may want to consider different deductibles and coverage limits, as you mentioned above.
I wish I had more information for you, but it seems this is what you have available until changes are made in our country's health care system.
Best of luck to you and your family! |

Unfortunately, from what I have seen, $500/month is actually on the low side for most individual health plans. Anytrhing cheaper will probably have coverage holes big enough to drive a truck through. |

"For a low cost health insurance you are best to go with Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). They have better terms than a Fee-for-Service plan. HMO’s have a pre paid health plan that is very comprehensive. This health insurance includes doctors visits, hospital stays, emergency care, surgery, lab test, x-rays and therapy. The will all be organised by the HMO within its offices and/or through doctors and other health care professionals working for them. The disadvantage to this health insurance is that the providers of your care can only come from the HMO. Payments are lower though, they average at about $5 per doctor visit and $25 dollar for an emergency room visit."

hope that helps :D |

Well, it's not based on your income, except for welfare health insurance - medicaid.
You can't find a private policy to cover maternity benefits, either. Family insurance at $500 a month is a steal, it's usually closer to $1,000 a month.
Coverage for a healthy, 25 year old is GOING to cost around $300 a month. That's what it costs. |

I'm great thanks

Hahahaha, move to the UK!! |
